Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is proud to announce Aaron Dorsey has been selected to receive a 2022 Doctoral Fellowship from the Forum for Theological Exploration (FTE). Dorsey’s area of concentration in the seminary’s doctor of philosophy program is in biblical studies.

Upon the recommendation of the Promotion Review Committee, the Board of Trustees of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary affirmed the promotion Dr. Jaeyeon Lucy Chung to associate professor of pastoral theology and care at their meeting on May 12, 2022.

Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary doctor of philosophy candidate, Reverend Patricia Bonilla, has been named a 2022-2023 Hispanic Theological Initiative/Lilly Endowment Dissertation Fellow. Bonilla is one of 10 doctoral candidates in North America to be named a 2022-2023 fellow.

The awards were presented at the seminary’s Service of Recognition on May 4, 2022, to recognize outstanding achievements by students and graduates.

The last few years have been a time like no other for the world and certainly for the Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary staff. So, it makes sense that the 2021-2022 Staff Recognition Award, normally given to one staff member who demonstrated exemplary performance during the prior academic year, was awarded to not just one staff member, but to every staff member of the Styberg Library.

Published on April 3, 2022, Unmasking White Preaching: Racial Hegemony, Resistance, and Possibilities in Homiletics is the result of a three-year long workgroup focused both on examining the impact of white racialization on the field of homiletics and centering racially-minoritized perspectives.

Reverend. Dr. Reginald Blount (G-ETS 2005), an esteemed colleague and longstanding faculty member of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, has been named director of the Center for the Church and the Black Experience (CBE), effective July 1, 2022.

Dr. Kate Ott has been named the next holder of the Jerre L. and Mary Joy Stead Professor of Christian Social Ethics and director of the Stead Center for Ethics and Values, beginning July 1, 2022. Ott will be the second to hold this endowed chair following the upcoming retirement of the Reverend Dr. Brent Waters in June 2022.

Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the appointment of the Reverend Dr. Esther E. Acolatse as professor of pastoral theology and world Christianity, beginning July 1, 2022. Acolatse brings a wealth of teaching experience and academic scholarship at the intersection of psychology and Christian thought in aid of human flourishing, with interests in the gendered body, cultural anthropological dimensions of medicine, health, and healing, and their implications for suffering, death, dying, and care at the end of life.

Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the appointment of the Reverend Dr. AHyun Lee (G-ETS 2015) as assistant professor of pastoral theology, care, and psychotherapy, beginning July 1, 2022. A graduate of Garrett-Evangelical’s Doctor of Philosophy program, Lee’s pastoral and professional background will bring a rich variety of experiences to her position along with a particular specialization in intercultural pastoral counseling.

Through this award, Wesleyan Investive has recognized four leaders, including DMin alumna Rev. Kit Evans-Ford (G-ETS 2017), who exemplify innovative spiritual leadership and missionally driven entrepreneurship across the Wesleyan ecosystem.
