Aware is published quarterly by the development office for alums and friends of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.
In the 2021-2022 academic year much has transpired as the Garrett-Evangelical community has looked with great intentionality at the challenges and opportunities facing the church, theological education, higher education, and our world. In the first half of the Spring Issue of Aware Magazine, you’ll read how Garrett-Evangelical is positioning itself to meet these challenges through our forthcoming strategic plan, new academic programs, a place-based approach to field education, expanded hybrid degree offerings, and more. This challenging work has both grown out of our history and identity, and a sense of where we believe God is calling us to be, who God is calling us to serve, and how God is calling us to bear witness in the world.
This work can only happen because of those who financially support the seminary’s mission. In the second half of this issue, you’ll hear from our alumna, Rev. Lou Whitmer, and current doctor of ministry students who are financially supporting the seminary through scholarship support. You’ll also learn more about the $1.25 million renewal grant the seminary received from the Lilly Endowment Inc. to support a second phase of the Young Adult Initiative at Garrett-Evangelical.
