Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary Chosen for the Seminary Environmental Certification Program

Under the direction of Rev. Dr. Timothy Eberhart, Assistant Professor of Theology and Ecology, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary has been chosen by the Green Seminary Initiative (GSI) for the Seminary Environmental Certification Program. A three-year program, this certification will assist Garrett-Evangelical as it integrates care for creation into areas of education and spiritual formation; liturgy, ritual, and worship; building and grounds management; community life; and public leadership.

Rev. Dr. Susan Henry-Crowe to Deliver 2017 Academic Convocation Address

Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary will welcome Rev. Dr. Susan Henry-Crowe, General Secretary of the General Board of Church and Society (GBCS) of The United Methodist Church (UMC), as its keynote speaker for the 2017 Academic Convocation on September 13, 2017. Committed to advocacy, education and justice, Henry-Crowe will deliver her convocation address, titled “Be On Your Way”, at 4:00 p.m. in the seminary’s Chapel of the Unnamed Faithful. All are welcome to attend.

Alumna Heidi Schlumpf Named National Correspondent for the National Catholic Reporter

Heidi Schlumpf (G-ETS 2000) has been named national correspondent for the National Catholic Reporter (NCR), effective immediately. She has served as a part-time contributor and columnist for NCR for over 10 years. In her new role Schlumpf will report about issues important to Catholics in the United States, with a focus on putting a Catholic and faith perspective on national and political trends.
