New Vice President of Business Affairs and Chief Financial Officer

McClain Dale PhotoEVANSTON, Illinois, August 2013 – Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the appointment of Dale McClain as the Vice President of Business Affairs and Chief Financial Officer effective Monday, August 19, 2013. Mr. McClain comes to Garrett-Evangelical with a wealth of experience and a successful record of growing revenue and managing costs.

Most recently Mr. McClain worked at Wintrust Financial Corporation where he spent the previous three years there as Chief Financial Officer of Wintrust Mortgage. Prior to that, he served for 12 years as Senior Vice President and Chief Financial Officer for the central division of Citibank, N.A. "Dale has been known throughout his career as a man of great integrity. He is a person of faith who is delighted to be able to add value to the work of preparing persons for ministry,” said Philip Amerson, President of Garrett-Evangelical. “As a team-oriented leader with expertise in finance and accounting, he is sure to further strengthen our business office. We are excited to welcome Mr. McClain to the Garrett-Evangelical community."

When asked about joining the administration, Mr. McClain said, “It is an honor and privilege to serve such a prominent institution. I am impressed with the dedication, passion and support of the faculty, staff, and the Board of Trustees. I look forward to helping continue the mission of one of the country’s leading and long standing seminaries.”

Mr. McClain has an M.B.A. in Marketing and Finance from the Kellogg Graduate School of Management at Northwestern University and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from John Carroll University in Ohio.  He is married to Elizabeth McClain and they have three sons and three granddaughters.

Garrett-Evangelical, a graduate school of theology related to The United Methodist Church, was founded in 1853. Located on the campus of Northwestern University, the seminary serves more than 500 students from various denominations and cultural backgrounds, fostering an atmosphere of ecumenical interaction.
