EVANSTON, Ill., October 2009 - Dr. R. Drew Smith was installed as the new director of the Center for the Church and the Black Experience, a 39-year-old organization that has helped lead Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary to take strong stands for racial justice and understanding.

EVANSTON, Ill., October 2009 - Setting a new standard in seminary hospitality, Garrett-Evangelical greeted Northwestern University students as they began the fall semester last month - handing out  hundreds of bagels, cups of lemonade, abundant good cheer and what's-in-it-for-you information about the seminary to passersby on the busy sidewalk by Sheridan Road.

EVANSTON, Ill., October 2009 -- Distinguished and thought-provoking leaders of The United Methodist Church will participate in a Symposium on Ministry Study on Nov. 18-19 during an event co-sponsored by Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and UMC's General Board of Higher Education and Ministry.
