Distinguished Alums 1998

Julius Trimble

Julius Trimble of Cleveland, Ohio earned the Master of Divinity degree from the seminary in 1983 and is currently a doctoral candidate at Ashland Seminary. He served as a pastor in several United Methodist churches before becoming the first African American to serve as District Superintendent in the Cleveland District of the East Ohio United Methodist Conference. He has served as President of We-Can, an interracial ecumenical organization in Cleveland; as chair of the Cleveland District Council on Ministries; and on the Board of Directors for several church and community organizations in the Cleveland area.


E. Dale Dunlap

E. Dale Dunlap of Raymore, Missouri, earned the Bachelor of Divinity degree from Garrett Biblical Institute in 1945 and a Master of Arts degree in 1947 from Garrett and Northwestern University. He completed a doctorate at Yale in 1956. After serving as a minister, he joined the faculty of Southwestern College, later serving as Associate Professor and Dean of the college until 1959 when he joined the Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City as a member of the original faculty. He has served as Professor of Theology for 28 years and in 1970, he was appointed Academic Dean, serving for 17 years through the terms of three presidents. In 1972-73, Dunlap was Acting President of Saint Paul. He has been a leader in United Methodist and ecumenical theological education.
