This 11-week course is designed to provide students with an opportunity to become knowledgeable about the origins of the Wesleyan tradition and its expressions within the United Methodist Church through the study of John Wesley’s sermons.

This course will be held online, meaning that all of it will be presented on your computer. Prior to your course, you will receive information for where to find the course website and how to access it. Don’t worry if this is your first time taking a class online! The instructor has extensive experience teaching online and can help you all the way along.
This course consists of eleven modules.
This course is a live interactive webinar and will meet on Tuesday mornings from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (Central Time).
Sessions will involve reading in the text and interacting with information and exercises on the course website. You will have opportunities to speak directly with the instructor, ask questions, and make certain you are understanding everything you are learning during the other weeks.
*Only the introduction session is asynchronous. All other sessions will meet synchronously on Tuesday mornings from 8:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m. (Central Time).

Rev. Dr. Mark R. Teasdale
Rev. Dr. Mark R. Teasdale is the E. Stanley Jones Professor of Evangelism. In addition to being a recognized scholar in the field of evangelism, Dr. Teasdale’s doctoral studies, dissertation, and first book were focused on Methodist history. He has taught both the Methodist history and doctrine courses in multiple seminaries, and he continues to publish articles on Methodism and mission.
