Jimmy’s Faith Book Talk with Dr. Christopher Hunt

Dr. Hunt, a Garrett PhD alum, will discuss his newest book, Jimmy’s Faith: James Baldwin, Disidentification, and the Queer Possibilities of Black Religion. The book seeks to answer the question—What is James Baldwin doing with and through his literary deployment of religious language and symbols? The book demonstrates that Baldwin continued to engage the symbols and theology of Christianity, queering and shifting their meaning toward building his own unique religious vision. Dr. Hunt is Associate Professor of Religion, Culture, and Power at Colorado College
