Chapel and Community Meal

September 24, 2025 @ 4:00 pm - 6:00 pm

Come and celebrate in person or online for a Service of Gratitude for the Relaunch of the Centro Raíces Latinas. Our guest speaker will be Sandy Ovalle (she/her/ella) a table-setter, a poet, and a faith-rooted organizer. She is the founder and principal of Coyolxauhqui Strategies where she helps organizations create faith-rooted advocacy and training campaigns. Committed to pro-social systemic change and former Senior Director of Campaigns and Mobilizing at Sojourners, Sandy believes in harkening ancestral wisdom for our collective liberation. She holds a M.A. in Theology from Fuller Theological Seminary and serves on the board of the Latino Christian National Network. A native of Mexico City, Sandy enjoys gathering neighbors and strangers around homemade pozole.

Communion will be presided over by Rev. Dr. Javier A. Viera, President of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. Following the service, we will gather for a community meal provided by Jibaritos y Más, featuring arroz con gandules, green salad, tostones, yuca, and chicken in a stew. Join us in worship, gratitude, and community as we mark this new beginning for the Centro Raíces Latinas.
