The Heartbeat of Leadership
How does your heart beat in strength of your leadership? There are two sides of leadership: (1) professional leadership, which includes the “hard” skills and abilities of tasks, management, and technical abilities, and (2) personal leadership, known as the “soft” skills of leadership. These unseen attributes, motivations, and life skills have profound influence upon professional leadership.
Professional leadership can only go as far as personal leadership allows.
This overview of the inner side of leadership brings intentionality for integration of spiritual direction in 21st century leaders. Two resource books will provide wisdom and direction for the conversation: Peter Koestenbaum’s Diamond Leadership model in his book, Inner Side of Greatness, and Gil Stafford’s book, When Spiritual Direction and Leadership Meet.
