Placement

Graduates in robes walking down sidewalk waving

Our 4,500 living alumni are engaged in wide variety of vibrant and creative ministries in all 50 states and in over 30 countries.

It's one thing to earn the degree, it's another to land the job. The Office of Vocational Networking is here to help you find the right career path and job placement after seminary. Through traditional career services, ordination support groups, and more, we are here to help you find and get the job that will take you into the next phase of your journey.

Career Services

Career Services

The Office of Vocational Networking provides traditional career services assistance, including one-on-one vocational planning for all students and job placement assistance for graduating students. Resources provided include helping students write resumes and cover letters, articulate the transferrable skills of a theological degree into non-religious workplaces, prepare for job interviews, and more.

Annual Conference Visits

Annual Conference Visits

Garrett-Evangelical routinely welcomes to campus representatives from United Methodist Annual Conferences across the country to visit with students about ministry opportunities and appointments in their area. We believe this program will help create a smoother transition for our students as they graduate from Garrett-Evangelical and discern next steps in both lay and clergy positions.

Vocations in Ministry Lunch Series

This monthly lunch invites people currently doing fantastic ministry in fields outside of congregational leadership (public ministry, pastoral care and counseling, etc.) to come and speak with students about how they got into their current position, how they see their work as ministry, and to offer best practices and practical advice for how to get a job in their field after graduating from Garrett-Evangelical. Our hope is to inspire students to be creative with their own calls to ministry and to think critically about how theological education influences and supports the work of ministry.
