Continuing the seminary’s commitment to reducing student debt and addressing the financial needs of students seeking a theological education, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary has an additional 25 full-tuition scholarships available for individuals applying for admission as a full-time student in Fall 2018:

  • Ten full-tuition scholarships will be awarded to United Methodist students, with awards going to no more than one student per United Methodist conference. Priority consideration will be given to persons of color and first-generation college students. Students must have a 3.2 GPA, be seeking a master of divinity or a master of arts degree, and be in the candidacy process to be ordained as an elder or deacon in The United Methodist Church.

  • Five full-tuition scholarships will be awarded to Hispanic/Latinx students. Students must be seeking a master of divinity or a master of arts degree. Priority consideration will be given to United Methodist students, but students of all denominations are encouraged to apply.

  • Five full-tuition scholarships will be awarded as part of our Pan-Methodist Fellows program. Students must be a member of the African Methodist Episcopal, African Methodist Episcopal Zion, or Christian Methodist Episcopal denominations seeking a master of divinity or a master of arts degree. Priority will go to the most qualified individuals seeking ordination.

  • Five full-tuition scholarships will be awarded to students applying for the new Master of Arts in Public Ministry program. Scholarships will go to the most qualified individuals.

Students who submit an application for admission will automatically be considered for a scholarship. For consideration for the above full-tuition scholarships, students need to apply for admission by April 1, 2018. Applications are reviewed on a rolling basis, so students are encouraged to apply early for priority consideration.
