Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is proud to announce Myron Krys Florence, Eddie L. Journey, and Gina A. S. Robinson have been selected to receive a 2021 Doctoral Fellowship from the Forum for Theological Exploration (FTE). This is the third year Robinson has received an FTE fellowship and the first for Florence and Journey. All three were awarded the Fellowship for Doctoral Students of African Descent.

The Forum for Theological Exploration (FTE) has just released its newest publication for the academy, Voices of the Mentored: Scholars of Color Speak. This publication was created in collaboration with and edited by Dr. Charles H. Cosgrove, who serves as the director of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary’s doctor of philosophy program and Professor of Early Christian Literature. Voices of the Mentored features 30 autobiographical essays from scholars of color, faculty responses, and FTE mentoring practices.

Rev. Dr. Reginald Blount, associate professor of formation, leadership, and culture, will be one of seven writers featured on the d365 app and website the week of April 25, 2021. Confronted with the violence of recent months in the United States — from mass shootings to hate crimes and insurrection at the U.S.

Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary will welcome pastor, professor, organizer, author, and sought-after speaker Bishop William J. Barber II for the seminary’s 163rd Commencement Service, being held online on Friday, May 14, 2021, at 10 a.m. (CDT). Bishop Barber will deliver the commencement address and be awarded an Honorary Doctorate of Divinity.
