Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is delighted to welcome alumna Rev. Dr. Pamela Lightsey (G-ETS 2005) as visiting scholar in Spring 2018. A scholar, social justice activist, and military veteran, Lightsey will be teaching a course entitled “Queer Theology.” Lightsey will also deliver a public lecture on March 20, 2018, titled “Pushing Limits on the Body.”

Hibbard Mummy
November 16, 2017 — Housed permanently at the Styberg Library at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, the Hibbard mummy is currently on loan to Northwestern University’s Block Museum of Art for a teaching exhibition entitled, Paint the Eyes Softer: Mummy Portraits from Roman Egypt. The exhibition is scheduled to be on display January 13, 2018, through April 22, 2018, in the Alsdorf Gallery.
Rev. Dr. Timothy Eberhart
November 9, 2017 — In preparation for the Fall 2018 launch of the new master of arts in public ministry (MAPM) degree, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary has named Rev. Dr. Timothy R. Eberhart director of the program. Eberhart brings a wealth of educational and ministerial experience and he has been instrumental in the seminary’s ecological justice and sustainability initiatives.
Seminaries that Change the World
November 1, 2017 — For a third consecutive year, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary has been recognized as a Seminary that Changes the World (STCTW) by The Center for Faith and Service. Each year, STCTW identifies a select group of seminaries and divinity schools offering innovative courses, programs, and opportunities for students seeking to engage in social justice and service work while in seminary.
November 1, 2017 — Beginning Fall 2018, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary will offer a new master of arts in public ministry degree. Aligned with the 2016-2021 Strategic Plan and the seminary’s commitment to public theology, the 56-credit hour degree will educate laity and faith leaders for wise, courageous, and transformative public ministries for the well-being of all peoples and creation.
Proclaiming Justice Conference
October 12, 2017 — The Styberg Preaching Institute at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary will bring together modern-day prophets Father Michael Pfleger, Rev. Dr. Otis Moss III, and Rev. Alexia Salvatierra, along with 12 panelists of leading scholars and pastors, for a two-day conference to address critical issues of injustice that infect our society and call for a response from the church.
