Alexia Salvatierra, along with 12 panelists of leading scholars and pastors, for a two-day conference to address critical issues of injustice that infect our society and call for a response from the church.

October 4, 2017 — Rev. Dr. Trina Armstrong, assistant professor of pastoral care and pastoral theology at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, was named president and chair of the Society for Pastoral Theology (SPT) at their 33rd Annual Meeting.
Defend DACA
October 3, 2017 — The recent rescinding of DACA (the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals) was a misguided policy decision based on ignoble motives to which we, the undersigned faculty members of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary, must reply. As theological educators who are interested in the flourishing of all of God’s creation and who are committed to the recognition of God’s Image in all of humanity, we cannot remain silent in the face of what we take to be an assault on both.

October 3, 2017 — Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is proud to announce its newest partnership with the School of Theology (A Faculdade de Teologia da Igreja Metodista––FATEO) at Methodist University of São Paulo, Brazil. Through this global partnership the two institutions can now promote exchange of faculty and students, joint publications, synchronous courses, and more.

August 29, 2017 — Under the direction of Rev. Dr. Timothy Eberhart, Assistant Professor of Theology and Ecology, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary has been chosen by the Green Seminary Initiative (GSI) for the Seminary Environmental Certification Program. A three-year program, this certification will assist Garrett-Evangelical as it integrates care for creation into areas of education and spiritual formation; liturgy, ritual, and worship; building and grounds management; community life; and public leadership.

August 27, 2017 — The Publishing Office of the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry (GBHEM), the leadership development agency for the denomination, announced the release of a new book, “GO! How to Become a Great Commission Church,” by Mark R. Teasdale. Teasdale’s “GO!” provides valuable tactics to help churches answer God’s call and move forward in their mission and work, breaking stereotypes and witnessing in surprising and unexpected ways. “God tells us to “GO!” What are we waiting for?”
