Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is honored to announce that it has been selected as one of the Seminaries that Change the World (STCTW) by The Center for Faith and Service for the fourth consecutive year. Each year STCTW highlights a select group of seminaries and divinity schools that are offer innovative courses, programs, and opportunities for students seeking to engage in social justice and service work while in seminary.

Bob Ravenscroft
October 4, 2018 — On Wednesday, October 17, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary will welcome internationally renowned musician and long-time friend of the seminary, Mr. Bob Ravenscroft for his “Love Song” concert. Offering solo expressions of love and inspired by poetry and jazz standards, the “Love Song” concert will mix readings of standard jazz lyrics and other related poetry with both straight-ahead and freestyle solo piano renderings. The concert will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the seminary’s Chapel of the Unnamed Faithful, located at 2121 Sheridan Road, Evanston, Illinois. There is no cost to attend and all are welcome.

September 5, 2018 — The Admissions Office at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary will be hosting an Open House for persons interested in pursuing theological education on October 3, 2018. The Open House will include presentations from key administrators, including President Lallene J. Rector, and faculty members, and conversations with current students about their seminary experience. In addition, a tour of the seminary and Northwestern University campuses will be provided, and attendees will also have the option sit in on a class on October 4th.
August 28, 2018 — Nine alumnae of Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary have joined with nearly 70 United Methodist clergywomen (elders and deacons) to write the devotional book We Pray with Her: Encouragement for All Women Who Lead. This devotional is a collection of 100 entries that explores themes such as call, vocation, persistence, resistance, and struggle.
Rev. Dr. Willie James Jennings
August 13, 2018 — Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary will welcome the Reverend Dr. Willie James Jennings, associate professor systematic theology and Africana studies at Yale Divinity School, as its keynote speaker for the 2018 Academic Convocation on September 6, 2018. Jennings will deliver his convocation address, titled, “Friends of Doubt and Disciples of Hope,” at 11:30 a.m. in the seminary’s Chapel of the Unnamed Faithful. All are welcome to attend.
Forum for Theological Exploration
August 7, 2018 — Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is proud to announce doctor of philosophy students Karen E. Mosby and B. Yuki Schwartz have been selected to receive a Completion Grant from the Forum for Theological Exploration (FTE).
