Our Advent journeys are enriched by paying attention. This is not passive waiting.

November 13, 2018 — For the last three years, our seminary community has engaged in intentional processes of information gathering, hosting guest lectures, and engaging in careful discussion and consideration on human sexuality. We have not sought full unanimity within the seminary and may never be able to claim such … but Garrett-Evangelical must now explicitly claim who we have been for some time.
Sun-Ah Kang
October 31, 2018 — Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary doctor of philosophy student, Sun-Ah Kang, was awarded a Women of Color Scholars Program scholarship. Kang’s doctoral concentration is in biblical studies and she is in the process of writing her dissertation titled, “A cross-cultural reading of the ’ēšet hayil (Prov. 31:10-31) alongside Naehun in the context of Korean-Confucianism.”
October 18, 2018 — Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is honored to announce that it has been selected as one of the Seminaries that Change the World (STCTW) by The Center for Faith and Service for the fourth consecutive year. Each year STCTW highlights a select group of seminaries and divinity schools that are offer innovative courses, programs, and opportunities for students seeking to engage in social justice and service work while in seminary.

October 4, 2018 — On Wednesday, October 17, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary will welcome internationally renowned musician and long-time friend of the seminary, Mr. Bob Ravenscroft for his “Love Song” concert. Offering solo expressions of love and inspired by poetry and jazz standards, the “Love Song” concert will mix readings of standard jazz lyrics and other related poetry with both straight-ahead and freestyle solo piano renderings. The concert will begin at 6:15 p.m. in the seminary’s Chapel of the Unnamed Faithful, located at 2121 Sheridan Road, Evanston, Illinois. There is no cost to attend and all are welcome.

September 5, 2018 — The Admissions Office at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary will be hosting an Open House for persons interested in pursuing theological education on October 3, 2018. The Open House will include presentations from key administrators, including President Lallene J. Rector, and faculty members, and conversations with current students about their seminary experience. In addition, a tour of the seminary and Northwestern University campuses will be provided, and attendees will also have the option sit in on a class on October 4th.
