Dr. Leah Gunning Francis, Assistant Professor of Christian Education at Eden Theological Seminary and a PhD graduate of Garrett-Evangelical (G-ETS 2009), interviewed more than two dozen St. Louis faith leaders and young activists who were actively engaged in the aftermath of the shooting death of Michael Brown in August 2014. She has collected their stories of courage and hope that contain seeds of possibilities that if nurtured, can serve us well into the future.

About Dr. Leah Gunning Francis

Dr. Leah Gunning Francis (G-ETS 2009), Associate Dean for Contextual Education and Assistant Professor of Christian Education at Eden Theological Seminary in St. Louis, Missouri, has been an active and visible presence in Ferguson, Missouri during the weeks since the tragic shooting of Michael Brown in early August. When United Church of Christ President Rev. Geoffrey Black recently visited St. Louis, Dr. Gunning Francis is one of the leaders who met with him. Rev. Black came to explore how local churches can respond to this crisis and how the wider church can support their efforts.
