SUMMARY:Let’s Talk Globally: Bodies\, Tables\, and Belonging: Reimagining Theology from a Latine Perspective
DESCRIPTION:As part of its relaunch\, the CENTRO RAÍCES LATINAS along with the Office of Student Affairs will co-host the first Let’s Talk Globally conversation of the academic year. Join Rev. Dr. Emma Escobar and PhD candidates Evelmyn Ivens and Paola Márquez Leones as they facilitate a session on Bodies\, Tables & Belonging: Reimagining Theology from a Latine Perspective. Ph.D. candidate Paola Márquez Leones’s research\, Visualizing Mestizaje: Black Women’s Bodies\, Religion\, and the Nation\, examines how race\, gender\, and faith intersect in shaping belonging. Evelmyn Ivens’s project\, Sobremesa: A Practice of Resistance\, Belonging\, and Theological Imagination\, explores how shared meals and hospitality practices open new possibilities for community and justice. Together\, they will invite us to imagine spaces of belonging where voices long silenced are heard\, honored\, and celebrated.
