Cátedra Paulo Freire 2025

March 20 @ 12:00 pm - 1:15 pm

The Cátedra Paulo Freire at Garrett-Evangelical is excited to host an international dialogue titled Learning Without Borders: Echoes of Humanizing Words, scheduled for March and April. This event, happening in person at Garrett and via Teams, will engage Paulo Freire’s Pedagogy of the Oppressed, a work that has journeyed across numerous cultural and geographical boundaries for decades.

We will have the great opportunity to be in dialogue with doctoral students from UMESP (Methodist University of São Paulo, Brazil), collectively investigating how liberating education is carried out in different contexts. Through this collaborative effort, we will deepen our understanding of how education can continue to act as an effective means for liberation, collective transformation, and a powerful tool against repressive regimes and discourse. This will be a bilingual event.
