Policy and Partnerships Associate
 
The mission of A Just Harvest is to fight poverty and hunger in the Rogers Park and greater Chicago
community by providing nutritious meals daily while cultivating community and economic development
and organizing across racial, cultural and socio-economic lines in order to create a more just society.
A Just Harvest is seeking a highly motivated individual to serve as our Policy and Partnerships
Associate to lead advocacy and organizing efforts that promote anti-hunger and anti-poverty policies
that engage our community partners.
 
Responsibilities of Position (not exhaustive):
  • Foster and support the development and implementation of local and state policies that support the mission of AJH through building the collective power of our partnerships
  • Create curriculum and conduct regular training opportunities to inform, organize, and, build capacity with our partners to support AJH’s policy efforts
  • Develop partnership resources including reports, data, presentations, online and written documents that support public advocacy initiatives
  • Create and implement strategies for advancing policy goals with key decision makers at the municipal and state level
  • Monitor and analyze relevant economic justice policies at the municipal and state level as well as with peer organizations
  • Collaborate in providing relevant information for development and communication programs
  • Cultivate existing and new creative partnerships with organizations whose work is relevant to the mission of AJH
  • Create and maintain an online resource and action center to engage our partners and volunteers in the advocacy work of AJH
  • Raise the profile of AJH through developing articles, opinion pieces and position statements on relevant issues
 
Minimum Required Skills and Qualifications:
  • Bachelor’s degree in related field or equivalent and relevant work experience
  • Strong commitment to racial, social and economic justice
  • Advanced communication and public speaking skills to analyze public policy and deliver presentations
  • Must be self-directed with exceptional organizational, time management and project management skills
  • Demonstrated ability to build and work in teams, partnerships and coalitions
  • Ability to travel as necessary across the Chicagoland area and sometimes to Springfield

Salary is commensurate with experience. Comprehensive benefits package includes employer paid
