Minister to Families with Youth

Job Title: Minister to Families with Youth Department: Youth Ministry
Reports To: FLSA Status: Exempt
Inspires youth to be Christ-centered, alive in their faith and equipped to make a difference while empowering other leaders in the congregation to do the same.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE THE FOLLOWING: General, Administrative, Relational, Supervisory, and Spiritual
▪ To develop and maintain a youth program, structurally and philosophically, that creates opportunities for adults and youth to serve.
▪ To lead a discipleship program that adheres to Wesleyan theology and is consistently effective in developing youth discipleship.
▪ To provide a holistic ministry which may include, but is not limited to: discipleship, worship, missions, stewardship, and small groups.
▪ To demonstrate leadership by teaching adults and youth in the program to lead.
▪ To recruit, train, and coordinate volunteers for youth events.
▪ To lead in the youth department’s future dreaming & planning of events.
▪ To keep a rolling 12-month youth calendar updated through the office to prevent scheduling conflicts and ensure logistical requirements of each event are satisfied.
▪ To provide necessary adult presence and supervision at all youth-related activities on or off church property.
▪ To maintain regular posted office hours, attend church staff meetings, and keep a good working relationship with other church staff.
▪ To work cooperatively with parents and guardians to develop meaningful discipleship and fellowship opportunities.
▪ To provide a safe, inclusive, and spiritual environment for youth and adults to come as they are.
▪ To network with other youth directors.
▪ To supervise interns and the assistant youth director and to model, teach, and mentor them in youth leadership.
▪ To have an ongoing relationship with Jesus Christ and be committed to growing that relationship through prayer, worship, and study, including consistent prayer for the youth and youth ministry.
▪ To demonstrate commitment to the mission of the church and adherence when teaching to the theology of the United Methodist church.
4-year bachelor’s degree prefered but not required and 4 years of experience in ministry to youth. Ideal candidate would have experience leading a youth program and working with multiple youth staff. This job description reflects the Trinity UMC Staff-Parish Relations Committee’s assignment of essential functions. It does not prescribe or restrict the tasks that may be assigned. TUMC shall, in its discretion, modify or adjust the position to meet the church’s changing needs.
