Director of Faith Formation with Children and Youth

Reports to: Pastor and Staff-Parish Relations Committee

Status: Part-time; $800.00 per month

Position Summary

Be part of a vital ministry to children and youth ages 7 - 18. Working in partnership with lay-led team and Pastor to guide and direct Sunday morning English worship service and celebration activities; as well as other weekly learning gatherings and events for children, youth, and their families. We are searching for a creative person with a passion for forming faith in new ways for a new time of building and being church community.

Essential Functions

Model the gift of faith in Christ and a passion for children and youth to experience and nurture their own faith.

Guide and direct the faith formation of children and youth of Glenbrook Korean UMC through learning opportunities, service experiences, and multi-generational worship and celebration events, including (but not limited to): Sunday morning age-appropriate learning; worship and youth group gatherings; hands-on service events; Confirmation classes.

Build up the church community by integrating their faith formation of all children and youth into the life of Glenbrook Korean UMC by: celebrating milestones in their faith and life journey; building mentoring relationships with other adults in the church; providing support for families in faith formation.

Help the church create and develop a culture of invitation, welcome, and belonging in the community. Develop and nurture leadership for children and youth faith formation among the adults and youth of the church.

Implement the Safe Sanctuary Policy in all activities of Glenbrook Korean UMC.

Oversee the church resources designated for faith formation of children and youth.

Use social media to communicate with families and their children and youth.

Minimum Qualifications

Faith in God through Christ, with some working knowledge of United Methodist polity. Some experience working with youth and children (paid or volunteer). Pass background check and sign Child Protection Policy. At least 22 years old. Team player, self-starter, creative, open to all persons, organized, with an ability to communicate effectively.
