We are seeking an experienced Accountant to manage daily general accounting operations,
financial reporting and audit-related affairs for the church. The Accountant is a part-time
position (20-28 hours), reporting directly to the Executive Minister and providing accounting
support to the Church Treasurer and treasury team members. The ideal candidate has
experience working in a not-for-profit and a spirit of serving others.

Accounting: Accurately account for all the church’s financial transactions, utilizing
technology for efficient timely delivery.
o Disbursements & Vendor Mgt: Manage office and ministry supply purchases,
including vendor inquiries.
o Recordkeeping: Maintain the safekeeping of the church’s financial records (e.g.,
bank receipts, support documentation) in accordance with applicable legal
requirements and good business practices. Compile, verify accuracy and process
credit/debit card, ACH and other electronic transactions.
o Payroll: Maintain payroll documentation to support third party Brotherhood
Mutual Ministry Works payroll processing (Evolution Payroll).
o Office Management: Maintain office accounting files as required by auditing
standards and manage record retention requirements. Assist in preparation of
annual audit by outside accounting firm.
o Miscellaneous accounting duties, as needed.
Reporting & Analysis: Deliver accurate and timely monthly, quarterly, annual financial
reports, per established timelines of the Church Treasurer. Analyze reports, explain
variances, and recommend process improvements.
Maintaining Confidentiality: Generate, receive and maintain confidential and sensitive
files, information and reports and ensure security of files.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE:
Demonstrated coursework (1-2 years) in basic accounting or finance (required).
Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting or Finance (preferred).
Five years of accounting experience with a Non-for-profit organization (preferred).
Communication: Strong oral and written communication skills are necessary to clearly
communicate issues and solutions with all levels of the organization. It is expected the
candidate will possess the ability to work with staff and volunteers to help ensure that the
office meets the needs of the church at all times.
Technical & Organizational Skills: Strong analytical, software and time management
skills with an ability to prioritize workload, master and manage computerized general
accounting, grant accounting, reporting systems and donor contribution platforms. High
proficiency using the Microsoft Office Suite, Quickbooks accounting software, internet
search systems, email and voicemail systems, copiers and fax machines. Experience
with Quickbooks Online is preferred.
