I am convinced that we live in a time of changing epochs which will have a powerful impact on the way in which the church does ministry. Within that context, it is inspiring to be involved with the formation of church leaders as they continue to discern and clarify their call and gifts within the disciplines of the seminary experience. For me, field education provides the environment in which the academic disciplines find a vital and integrated life in the church through leaders-in-formation. My hope is that each student will emerge from the seminary and field education program with a sense of themselves as an equipped and empowered spiritual leader for the church and the world. We have been blessed with a rich heritage of faith. The seminary seeks to open that treasure to the community. I hope that through field education we will learn how best to combine our individual gifts with those of the "great cloud of witnesses" for effective ministry in this vital time.
