Fowler Named Senior Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Madison, Wisconsin

Bishop Hee Soo Jung of the Wisconsin Conference of The United Methodist Church announces the appointment of The Rev. Dr. Mark A. Fowler to become the Senior Pastor at First United Methodist Church in Madison, Wisconsin, effective July 1, 2016. Fowler, who is currently serving as the Murray H. Leiffer associate professor of congregational leadership at Garrett-Evangelical, will retain his responsibilities at the seminary until June 30, 2016. He will remain associated with the seminary in the years to follow as an affiliate faculty member.

Garrett-Evangelical Announces New Center for Music and Worship in the Black Church

Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is pleased to announce the founding of The Center for Music and Worship in the Black Church Experience (CMWBCE), a one-of-a-kind in North America. The mission of the center is to provide training in the sacred music of the Black church and beyond to musicians and worship leaders for the enrichment of congregational worship in diverse contexts.

Ethics Professor, Brent Waters, Named Recipient of the 2016 Paul Ramsey Award

The Center for Bioethics and Culture Network and the Paul Ramsey Award Nominating Committee are pleased to announce Brent Waters, D.Phil., as the recipient of the 2016 Paul Ramsey Award for Excellence in Bioethics. Dr. Waters is the Jerre and Mary Joy Stead Professor of Christian Social Ethics, and Director of the Jerre L. and Mary Joy Stead Center for Ethics and Values at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois.
