In The Quest, Yergin shows how energy is an engine of global, political, and economic change by exploring the stories and questions around oil, alternative energies, and renewable energies. You are invited to register for this exciting and unique opportunity to hear from one of the leading experts on energy at www.Garrett.edu/Stead. The registration fee is $10 and the first 250 people to register will receive a free copy of The Quest the evening of the lecture.

When asked about Yergin, Dr. Brent Waters, Director of the Stead Center for Ethics and Values and the Jerre and Mary Joy Stead Professor of Christian Social Ethics, said, "If the church is to provide an informed, intelligent, and faithful ministry to the world in the 21st century, then it must become familiar with the rapidly changing political and econoimc landscape. In response to this need the Stead Center is sponsoring a series of lectures, conferences, and programs on globalization. There is no better topic than energy to initiate this project and no better teacher than Dr. Daniel Yergin."

An accomplished author, Dr. Yergin has written a number of other books including The Prize: The Epic Quest for Oil, Money and Power (Simon & Schuster, 1992), Commanding Heights: The Battle for the World Economy (Free Press, 2002). Yergin received the Pulitzer Prize for General Nonfiction for The Prize, which became a number one best seller and was made into an eight-part PBS/BBC series.

Dr. Yergin has been named one of the 500 most influential people in the United States in the field of foreign policy by the World Affairs Councils of America.
