Trustee Lee Hoekstra Receives Eliza Garrett Distinguished Service Award

EVANSTON, Illinois, May 2011 – Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary presented the Eliza Garrett Distinguished Service Award to trustee Lee Hoekstra for his outstanding service in overseeing the renovations of Loder and Stead (formerly Lesemann) Halls.  Hoekstra received the award at the service of reconsecration for Loder and Stead Halls on May 12.

Dr. Emilie M. Townes Delivers Commencement Address May 14

Evanston, IL, May 2010 -- Dr. Emilie M. Townes delivered the Commencement address, Voices of Protest, Songs of Hope, at Garrett-Evangelical's 153rd commencement service on May 14 at First United Methodist Church in Evanston.

James Noseworthy Named Senior Assistant to the President

Evanston, IL, May 2010 - The Rev. Dr. James Noseworthy will begin working at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in July 2010, as Senior Assistant to the President.   Noseworthy is leaving his post as president of Hiwassee College in Madisonville, TN, this spring after seven years of service.  Prior to this, he was Assistant General Secretary for Schools, Colleges and Universities at the United Methodist General Board of Higher Education and Ministry.  He has been a pastor and college chaplain and provided leadership for the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities.
