Tex Sample Will Be Featured Speaker at Congregational Leaders Institute 2010

EVANSTON, Ill., March  2010 - Dr. Tex Sample, a much sought-after lecturer, storyteller, workshop leader and author, will be the featured speaker and small-group leader at Congregational Leaders Institute 2010 in Bay View, Mich., Aug. 1-5.

tex-sampleThe 2nd annual Institute is a renewal and study opportunity for pastors and church leaders to have a week of reflection, learning and interaction with inspirational and provocative educational and faith leaders. It is co-sponsored by Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary and Methodist Theological School in Ohio in cooperation with the Bay View Religion Department.

The opening gathering and orientation will be Sunday evening, Aug. 1. Participants will hear Sample's lectures Monday-Thursday mornings and have 90 minutes every afternoon for small-group conversations with him.

Dr. Sample is the Robert B. and Kathleen Rogers Professor Emeritus of Church and Society at Saint Paul School of Theology in Kansas City, where he taught from 1967 to1999. A former cab driver, laborer and oil-field roustabout, he received his M.Div. and Ph.D. from Boston University, and a D.D. from Coe College. Sample is an ordained United Methodist elder and a contributor to many of the DVD programs in the "Living the Questions" series. His most recent of eight books is "Earthy Mysticism: Spirituality for Unspiritual People."

CEUs are available upon arrangement with one of the sponsoring seminaries. Registration for the week is $275, plus housing. Discount rates for spouses and children are available.
