Materials from the circulation collection may also be obtained though the Interlibrary Loan service department of your local Academic or Public Library. Please contact your local library directly for details concerning any fees that they might assess for these services.
Charges:
Alumni/ae who are living at a distance may request items via mail but are responsible for paying copy costs for articles (.10/page) and postage costs for both borrowing and returning library materials. Requests for items by alumni/ae should be sent to: Interlibrary Loan, The United Library, 2121 Sheridan Road, Evanston, IL 60201. Phone: (847) 866-3868. Send e-mail requests to Reader Services/ILL .
Current GETS and SWTS students who are living at a distance are responsible for return postage on any items that they send back to the United Library's physical location when the items are due.
Additional Circulating Policies and Charges:
Overdue Circulating Books:
- Books may be renewed three times.
- Patrons with overdue books will receive notices.
- If the book has not been returned after three notices, a bill will be issued which will include the cost of replacing and processing the book as well as a non-refundable service charge ($5.00).
- Lack of response to a bill results in either a hold being placed on a student's registration or the revocation of local borrowing privileges.
Overdue Recalled Books:
After a book has been in circulation two weeks, it may be recalled for use by another borrower. A book which has been recalled is due seven days from the day the recall notice is sent.
- A charge of two dollars ($2.00) per day will be imposed beginning at closing of the library on the seventh day.
- The two dollar per day charge will continue for ten days, with a maximum fine of twenty dollars ($20.00).
- After ten days, the replacement cost will be added to the twenty dollar charge.
Overdue Reserve Books:
- Reserve books taken out overnight are due within the first hour after the library opens the next day.
- A charge of one dollar ($1.00) per book per hour or fraction thereof will be imposed for each hour after the library opens.
- The maximum charge per day for each day the library is open, including Saturday and Sunday, is ten dollars ($10.00).
- The fee schedule will continue for five days, with a maximum rate of fifty dollars ($50.00) per book. After five days, a bill will be sent for the replacement cost in addition to the fifty dollar fine.
Lost Books:
A patron who has lost a book will be billed only for the replacement and processing costs if the incident is reported before an overdue bill is prepared. If the lost book is not reported before a bill has been prepared, a service charge will be added ($5.00).
All late charges are expected to be paid upon return of the books. Return of a book waives replacement fees, but not accrued late charges.
