Dear GEBS Alumni,
The 2009/2010 officers of the Garrett-Evangelical Black Seminarians would like to take this opportunity to introduce ourselves and the ministry work of GEBS in the seminary community and the community at large.
We are dedicated to reestablishing the communal aspect of the organization as we focus on the development of future theological leaders and remind ourselves and others of those who have journeyed before us, paving the way to ordination, church leadership, community activism, social advocacy and academic scholarship. We continue on this journey, remembering the shoulders of the founders of GEBS and all GEBS members with whom we stand in solidarity, participating in education and community at Garrett-Evangelical. It is our desire to utilize the experiences of past members to facilitate changes in our personal and collective ministries in the service of God.
To do so adequately, we are committed to the establishment of better communication with our alumni and utilization of your personal experiences and skills in the formation of new and current Black seminarians.
The organizational focus and theme this year is "Building Community within our Community." We have coordinated several special events in conglomeration with other student groups to facilitate community building:
As alumni of GEBS, you are invited to attend all of these functions. We are also interested in your leadership assistance in some of these activities. So we may align your experiences with the activities planned, please complete the information form, which will give us a glimpse of your ministerial biography and vitae. Please include your present address and phone number. We anticipate being able to provide you with new ways of staying involved and informed of GEBS events.
