Admission Procedures

To be considered for enrollment in the United Methodist Certification Studies or the Enrichment Studies, please:

1.    Complete the Application for Pre-Degree Enrollment in its entirety.

2.    Complete your name and social security number on the Bachelors Degree Verification Form (if a degree is earned) and forward the form to the degree granting college or university with your request for verification and return of the form to the Office of Admissions at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.

3.    Prepare a Letter of Interest indicating the reasons for your application as a pre-degree student.

4.    Ensure that all materials noted above are forwarded to the Office of Admissions at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary.

Applications are due six weeks before the first day of classes of the semester of intended entry.

Please note: Certification in a ministry area is granted by the United Methodist Church, not by Garrett.  Garrett provides the educational component of the certification process.  Prospective students should register with Nashville in their area of certification before applying to Garrett.  Prospective students from the African Methodist Episcopal, African Methodist Episcopal Zion and Christian Methodist Episcopal denominations may apply for Certification studies with a letter of support from their Bishop or Presiding Elder.  More information on Certification can be found on the General Board of Higher Education and Ministry's website.
