Portfolio

The portfolio would include the completion of one year of field placement in an African American Church context and the evaluation report of the field placement supervisor. It would also include an Integrative Essay* (4-6 pages) that includes responses to the following:

  1. One's emerging understanding of ministry and vocation in light of their experience with the concentration in African American Church Leadership.
  2. A description of (at least five) key learnings, confirmations, or changes that have occurred in the matriculation through the African American Church Leadership Concentration (reference and include examples of papers, projects, assignments, evaluations and exams that illustrate these learnings, confirmations, changes)
  3. A statement of next steps having now completed the African American Church Leadership Concentration requirements.

Cross-Cultural Requirement

This concentration is a learning opportunity for every student at Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary. It could particularly be used by non-African American students to fulfill their cross-cultural requirement.
