AMBS Students at Garrett-Evangelical

To assist students at Anabaptist Mennonite Biblical Seminary (AMBS) in meeting United Methodist ordination requirements, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary will be offering a concentration in United Methodist Studies.  This concentration consists of five courses which meet six key United Methodist educational requirements - United Methodist History, Doctrine, and Polity; Evangelism; Mission of the Church in the World; and Worship.  More information about specific courses and the requirements that they meet can be found below.

Process

AMBS students interested in studying at Garrett-Evangelical will complete a Guest Student registration form and submit it to the AMBS registrar for approval. The AMBS registrar will then forward approved forms to the Garrett-Evangelical registrar for registration. The form should be completed at least 4 weeks before the term starts in which a student wishes to take a class.  This form is available linked below as well as on the AMBS website.  Information about term begin and end dates as well as registration and other deadlines can be found on the appropriate academic calendar on the Office of the Registrar portal page.

AMBS guest students will be contacted once the course registration has been received and processed; the student will also be notified should the course be full or become unavailable.  The guest student will be given login information for the Garrett-Evangelical online portal and Moodle learning management system with instructions for accessing these sites once registration is complete.

United Methodist Concentration Courses

Information about the specific courses being offered to meet the United Methodist Concentration requirements can be found below.  These documents are sorted first by requirement and then by term.  Students wishing to complete the concentration must take either both on campus United Methodist Studies courses or the three online Untied Methodist Studies courses and then choose one of the courses listed for each of the other requirement categories.  You may contact Rev. Vince McGlothin-Eller, Garrett-Evangelical registrar, if you have questions about any of these courses.

Academic Policies

AMBS guest students are expected to comply with the academic policies and procedures of Garrett-Evangelical while taking Garrett-Evangelical courses. An electronic version of the Academic Handbook can be found on the Office of the Registrar portal page.

Tuition and Fees

Tuition is charged for each course based on the number of hours enrolled. Current fees can be found on the Tuition and Fees tab on the main Garrett-Evangelical website. AMBS guest students will be charged at the Masters level.
**Tuition and fees are subject to change.**

Guest students can pay with a credit card either online through the Garrett-Evangelical portal or by calling the Garrett-Evangelical cashier (847.866.3917).  Payments may also be made by check.  Failure to pay before the term begins will result in a business hold.  Guest students who are placed on hold will not be able to take further courses at Garrett-Evangelical and will not receive grades until the hold is cleared. Guest students are not eligible for financial aid from Garrett-Evangelical.

Housing

If an AMBS guest student will require housing on Garrett-Evangelical's campus, they can contact the office of housing at 847.866.3950.

You can also find additional information about housing on our main website.  Guest students coming for January or summer intensives will need to complete a housing application.
