Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary is delighted to welcome Dr. Mualla Selçuk to campus to engage in conversation with faculty and students. Dr. Selçuk will open with a few comments about Islamic faith and inter-religious dialogue followed by significant time for conversation. We encourage you to bring a sack lunch and the seminary will provide dessert.
Dr. Selçuk is professor of religious education for the faculty of divinity and vice-president of continuing education for Ankara University in Ankara, Turkey. She was the first woman dean of the divinity faculty that trains Muslim leaders in Turkey, the Middle East and Europe. She is also the first woman member of the Religious High Council for the Presidency of Religious Affairs Turkey. Dr. Selçuk is the author of many books and articles, most in Turkish or German, including a recent encyclopedia in German that compares Islamic and Christian teachings and practices. She is currently completing a book in English with John Valk entitled An Islamic Worldview: Religion in a Modern, Democratic and Secular State.
