Church Planting Resident
To further our long-term vision of building an inclusive, high-impact, discipleship-focused church planting movement in Chicago (and beyond), we are excited to extend the Urban Village Church Planting Residency Program into a fourth year, in partnership with Path 1, the church planting ministry of The United Methodist Church.
We seek a Church Planting Resident to engage a year of deep learning, hands-on ministry, and focused preparation. This position is not an internship but a one-year, full-time, grant-funded ministry position that is part of a large, active, and diverse ministry team. The resident will share significant pastoral and leadership responsibilities and will receive weekly coaching from Urban Village Church’s founding/lead pastors. Please note, the resident will be responsible for fund-raising a portion of their compensation.
Our belief is that after a year of intensive residency, the resident will be prepared to lead the planting of a new church. To find out more details and resident applicant requirements, please view this set of guidelines provided by Path 1.
Confidential applications should be sent to firstname.lastname@example.org; Commissioned and Ordained candidates, as well as those hoping to be commissioned in summer 2017, must let their Bishop and District Superintendent know that they are applying. Candidates must also submit a completed Path 1 Application Form (download form here) by March 1, 2017, a letter of interest including a short statement of personal faith, theology, and vision for church planting, and a Résumé or CV.
