Ministry Sunday Honoring Rev. David Alberts

dave-aOn February 16, 2014, Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary will honor alumnus Rev. David M. Alberts and his 38 years of effective ministry.  Rev. Alberts (G-ETS 1979), an Elder in the Desert Southwest Conference of The United Methodist Church, is currently serving as the Senior Pastor at Prescott United Methodist Church in Prescott, Arizona.

In recognition of Rev. Alberts ministry, we are delighted to announce the establishment of the David M. Alberts Scholarship. This scholarship will allow others who are considering a ministry vocation to follow in Dave's footsteps. If you wish to make a gfit in honor of Rev. Rev. (Dave) David Alberts, Senior Pastor
Rev. Alberts previously served at Grace United Methodist and St. Matthew United Methodist Church in Mesa, Arizona, and became senior pastor of Prescott UMC in July 2011. Prior to moving to the Desert Southwest Conference, he served twenty-nine years of ministry in the Illinois Great Rivers Conference. Some of his tenure in Illinois included serving as Program Counselor for the annual conference in the area of missions and higher education.  Church appointments in Illinois included:  Deselm UMC; Ritchey UMC; Normal First UMC; Elmwood UMC; Rock Island Memorial Heights UMC; Urbana First UMC; and Vermont Street UMC.

Pastor Dave received his Master of Divinity degree from Garrett-Evangelical Theological Seminary in Evanston, Illinois, in 1979. He also holds a Doctor of Ministry degree, with a specialization in Spirituality and Story, from Wesley Theological Seminary in Washington, D.C.

An important part of his life and ministry is Mary, his former high-school sweetheart, and they have been married since 1974. The Alberts have two adult children. Their son, Scott, is a recreational therapist living with his wife and their son (Dave and Mary's first grandchild) in Quincy, Illinois. Their daughter, Lisa, is an occupational therapist who lives with her husband in Pella, Iowa.
